7 policy priorities
Keep students and staff safe
Make sure that school buildings are secure, and procedures are in place to limit access to the buildings.
Work with law enforcement to have highly qualified School Resource Deputies in our facilities.
Enforce our code of student conduct.
Assure that our protocols for maintaining a healthy air and water quality environment exceed standards established by the Worcester County Health Department.
2. Hire and retain outstanding leaders, teachers, and staff
Recruit a highly effective team of teachers, paraprofessionals, and staff to work with our students
Provide a competitive and living wage with benefits to retain our teachers, leaders, and staff.
3. Retain small class sizes to assure that student needs are met
Affirm and sustain that small class sizes are highly beneficial to making sure that each child succeeds.
4. Direct funding into the classroom
Fulfill our fiduciary responsibility to make sure that our funding is targeted to the classroom and effectively used to meet the needs of our students.
Provide materials of instruction and technology to support teaching and learning.
Support academic based after-school and summer school programs providing enrichment and remediation for our students.
5. Provide an engaging curriculum that meets the needs of our students
Make our curriculum available and accessible for our parents and community.
Prepare our students to be college and career ready.
Expand and enhance our career and technology program offerings to provide jobs that pay living wages with benefits and keep our graduates in our communities.
Expand our advanced placement and dual enrollment programs for our students.
6. Hold staff accountable for the achievement of our students
Replace standardize tests and implement a student assessment growth model that monitors student progress over-time to provide, as needed, enrichment or remediation services.
Use student achievement data to hold ourselves and our leadership team accountable for student success.
7. Provide facilities that support learning
Eliminate portable classrooms.
Build a new Buckingham Elementary School.
Renovate Berlin Intermediate School.
